Dr. Amy Cuellar
My name is Dr. Amy Cuellar, and I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas. I obtained my PhD in clinical psychology (adult track) from the University of Miami and afterwards completed a pre-doctoral internship (general track) at the James A. Haley VA Hospital and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in the Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center. My area of expertise lies in helping people to achieve their visions of recovery from depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, stress, paranoia, and other problems in living so that they lead lives of meaning. Much of my work has focused on helping people overcome barriers in setting, achieving, and sustaining goals in order to live the lives that they want. My theoretical orientations are rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution focused therapy. I am an advocate of using CBT in many cases because it has the strongest scientific evidence to support its efficacy in decreasing symptoms. When someone appears to be struggling with adjustment to a life transition, however, I tend to use solution focused therapy as my theoretical approach. Regardless of theoretical orientation, however, my style is always collaborative and based in my unwavering belief that everyone has the capacity to grow, change, and recover. I view myself as a partner on a team with my client, and that my clients’ knowledge about themselves as just as important as my knowledge of how to provide therapy. My goal for clients is for them to learn skills so that they can become their own therapists. I would be honored to be a partner on your recovery journey and look forward to meeting you soon. Aryeh Minkin
Hi! I am Aryeh (pronounced AR-yay.) I am a therapist licensed in New York and Texas. I help people understand and cope with a variety of mild, moderate or severe life circumstances and/or emotional, behavioral or cognitive concerns. I specialize in trauma/PTSD and have extensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I have also trained in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), narrative therapy and EFT (Emotionally-Focused Therapy). Additionally, I treat anxiety, stress, grief, low self esteem, personality disorders and building effective boundaries with family/relationships. People have the drive to be emotionally healthy with themselves and their loved ones. Therapy can often help achieve these goals. My counseling style is warm and interactive, I believe it is important to treat anyone with respect and dignity, to empower them and instill confidence in a compassionate manner. No two problems are ever exactly the same, so I make it my personal objective to listen very carefully to each person and in a very open and non-judgmental way. I always do my best to understand what each situation feels like when looking out through their eyes. I believe in being client-centered and supporting client’s where they are at (with a pinch of humor thrown in). It is important for me to include the client in the treatment planning process and help monitoring success. It takes courage and bravery to take that first step towards change, if you are ready to take that first step I am happy to help guide, support and encourage along the way. I look forward to working with you and helping you create a life full of happiness. (Please note: I am currently only available for messaging)

As we face many life choices on a daily basis, it can get quite overwhelming as we try to juggle our personal lives, family, friends, children, work, and unexpected events all at once. We tend to concentrate on helping others and avoid taking care of ourselves. If we have experienced past trauma in our lives, it compounds our life to where it feels like we are drowning. It’s time to heal, gain strength, and work out your barriers to improving your behavior, and I am available to assist on your journey. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 16 years of experience in the mental health field. I have assisted individuals with issues that include depression, anxiety, anger management, pain management, young adult issues, PTSD, immigration counseling, divorce, substance abuse, living with HIV, and healthy relationships. My focus is working with young adults as they deal with life changing decisions and the stressors of expectations, the unknown future, and the anxiety of transitioning into adulthood. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Some commonly asked questions can be found below.
How much does a therapist cost?
Mental health professionals can differ in price. Forbes found that the average cost of in-person therapy in the US is around $100 to $200 per hour. Pricing can also vary based on your location.
BetterHelp offers payment plans of $60 to $90 per session, charged monthly in a lump sum. You can also take advantage of this pricing on one of BetterHelp's sister platforms, like ReGain for couples or TeenCounseling for teens aged 13 to 19.
Many therapists may be upfront about their pricing and whether or not they take health insurance from the beginning. Additionally, some in your area may offer a sliding scale plan to allow those with lower incomes to pay less for therapy. However, services online can often save individuals a few hundred dollars per month.
How do I know if I should get a therapist?
Mental health services and mental health providers may help you navigate various concerns. You do not need a diagnosis or condition to attend therapy; You can discuss grief, relationship concerns, stress, or life changes and ask for general advice. A counselor may help you gain power over your life and emotions while you navigate day-to-day experiences.
Mental health issues don't always present as a crisis. Many professionals provide talk therapy and support for life transitions, skills learning, relationship problems, or life coaching. Online therapy sessions in Texas can allow clients seeking therapy to experience professional help through video, phone, or live chat sessions without commuting to an office.
Does insurance cover therapy?
Different counseling services can vary in cost. Therapists must apply to accept insurance through insurance companies, which may take time and money, so not every therapist offers services through insurance. If you cannot find a therapist that accepts your plan, BetterHelp may be cheaper than visiting an in-person therapist.
Is online therapy safe?
Online therapy through BetterHelp and its sister platforms is safe. Therapists are licensed, experienced, and vetted before being contracted with the platform. If you experience any concerns with your therapist, you change your counselor through the platform or app at any time.
